This song, Let There Be Peace On Earth, has been rolling around in my head all month. I’m thinking I might send it out as a Christmas card, along with the Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi. These are troubling times.

“Sowing in the morning, sowing seeds of kindness,
Sowing in the noontide and the dewy eve . . . ”
–Knowles Shaw
The words of the hymn that I heard so often in childhood are replaying in my mind like a broken record this morning. What a lovely thought to start the day — sowing seeds of kindness.
In gratitude . . .
for those who don’t judge what they haven’t experienced;
for those who understand and respect that everyone’s story is different;
for those who respect confidentiality;
for those who know how to listen without trying to fix it or give advice;
for those who can simply be there with a compassionate heart;
for those whose very presence brings comfort.
Thank you!

Imagine if everyone on the planet were focused on helping each other become the best they could be — heal, learn, grow, reach their full potential.
Imagine!
Ego gets in the way of God.
I could be stubborn about being “right,” or I could hand it to God.
I could walk away in anger when I’ve been “done wrong,” or I could turn the other cheek and walk in love.
I could let ego lead me astray, or I could think about what Jesus would do and follow His example.
I could choose ego, or I could choose God.
Listen with your heart.
Hear the humanity.
Words need not form.
Just listen.
Words aren’t always needed.
Sometimes just being there is enough.
Sit together in silence, maybe hold hands.
What a beautiful gift — being there.
